Grant Information and Resources
References
1. Letters of Recommendation (limit 2)
Up to two letters of recommendation are permitted. Letters are not required, but may serve to make your application more competitive. Letters should ideally be from experts in fields related to your project who are familiar with your project and can attest to its significance. Where appropriate, one letter should be from a supervisor who can attest that you will be allowed time and, if applicable, resources to work on the project.
Follow these steps in sequence:
|
1. Request letters.
- Ask potential recommenders whether they will agree to write in support of your application.
- Provide them with information about your project.
- If they agree to write on your behalf, tell them to expect an email from the Digital Media
and Learning Competition (which you will generate in step 2).
2. Generate email to recommenders.
- If they agree to write in support of your application, enter their names and e-mail addresses below.
- Be certain you are using the address for an account the recommender checks frequently,
and be careful to enter it correctly.
- Press the Save & Continue button each time you enter a listing.
- You do not have to enter both names at the same time.
As soon as you enter the information for step 2, an email message with instructions on how to upload recommendations will immediately be sent to each person you have listed.
Letters of recommendation are confidential and are uploaded in a separate, password-protected section of this Web site. Recommenders, not applicants, should upload letters.
Changing recommenders You may change the name(s) and email address(es) you have entered if you learn there was an error, or if your recommender's circumstances change and s/he is unable to write the letter. Simply enter new information and press Save & Continue. Before entering the new information, however, please contact your initial recommender to indicate that s/he is no longer required to submit a letter. Individuals not registered as recommenders will be blocked from submitting letters to the system. Only two letters are allowed.
Reminding recommenders For full consideration, letters of recommendation should be submitted by November 1, 2008. If necessary, you can send reminder e-mail messages to those you have asked to write on your behalf by clicking on the "Recommendation Reminder" feature, which will appear after you fill in names and e-mail addresses below. When you click the Recommendation Reminder link, the same e-mail message sent earlier will be sent out again to your recommender, with "Recommender Reminder" in the subject line. |
